Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As part of our commitment to supporting the Whole Child, Denver Public Schools will conduct Universal Behavioral and Emotional Health Screenings for all students. This screening offers an equitable way to assess students' social and emotional development and helps identify where support is needed in the school, classroom, and individual level.
Please note that Universal Behavioral and Emotional Health Screening is NOT an assessment or diagnostic tool. It will take place two or three times per school year (beginning, middle, or end). These screening periods allow school teams to evaluate the effectiveness of the support provided to students and make necessary adjustments.
School staff identified, including students' teachers, mental health staff, and district administrators, will have direct access to students' screening results and data. Any additional use of this information will require parent consent on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions, please contact your school's student support team.
If you have questions, please reach out to your school's student support team. Your student’s school team will share the screener and will give you the following information: information that may be included in the screener; how the information will be used; how the information will be obtained; why the information is needed; who will have access to the information; and/or permission to see your student’s records or information.
