Annie Holyfield hails from Houston, Texas but moved to the great state of Colorado after an elderly man told her she had "the mountain in her eye", while on a high school ski trip. Without thinking twice, she applied to the University of Colorado and has never looked back since!
At CU Boulder, Annie earned her degree in Psychology, joined the Stanley British Primary teacher program and earned a Master’s degree in Education Psychology. For the last 6 years she has taught 1st grade in Aurora Public Schools, and is now thrilled to be a part of the Shoemaker K/1 Crew.
When Annie is not teaching, she loves playing with her daughter Maebe, (yes she named her after the character on “Arrested Development”), painting and playing with glitter as much as possible and dreaming up insane projects for her students and dance club members to tackle. You’ll often find her with silly earrings or outfits on as she is convinced she is the next Ms. Frizzle, and she’s always ready for a great costume or crazy themed party, or perhaps she’ll just be reading children’s books in her classroom bathtub or teepee!
